Ektarpur Gram Panchayat located 45 km north from Kolkata, in Balagarh Panchayat samite under Hooghly Zilla parisad in West Bengal at 23°-6'-34'' North Latitude, 88°-27'-37'' E Longitude and covers a total area 12.77 sq. Km with 16 sansad of population – 19368 (as per 2011 Census) out of this ST – 4355 nos. and SC – 6949 Nos. The panchayat is well connected with the Rly. Station Mogra, Khanyan, Jirat and Kolkata Mogra, Khanyan – Jirat Bus route as the Communication system. The markets Mogra, Pandua and Jirat are adjacent to the panchayat boundary. The river Behula bounded the panchayat in south. So connectivity in all respect is very smooth. Economy is based on cultivation, business, service of the inhabitant. Main food grain is (paddy two times, seasonal and off seasonal) is grown. Apart from this different types of vegetables, mango, potato are also produced.
